Adrian Connell studied conducting with Sydney Fixman and was the first student to achieve the honour of conducting the college orchestra for two consecutive years. Since graduating in 1987 Adrian has led a varied and active musical life. As well as working in the music publishing business since 1987 as a librarian, music editor and sales and marketing manager he has pursued a freelance career as a conductor, bass guitarist and composer.
Adrian has appeared as bass guitarist in numerous bands, including the BBC Big Band, Thames Television Big Band, the Don Lusher Big Band and has had the pleasure of playing in a number of West End musicals.
In 1996 he returned to conducting, since when he has guest conducted with the Kensington Symphony Orchestra, the Hayes Symphony Orchestra and for four years led the Festive Music Group at Holy Innocents Church. He was also artistic advisor, Composer in Association and Assistant Conductor to the Bromley Oecumenical Singers from 1993 to 2003.
As a composer Adrian's music has been played widely throughout the South-East area with performances from the Bromley Oecumenical Singers, Surrey Philharmonic Orchestra, Hayes Symphony Orchestra, Harrow Symphony Orchestra, Southampton Concert Orchestra, Bromley Symphony Orchestra and many local church choirs.
